About the Artist
After fifty years in the architectural profession, Marvin Maune has turned his focus toward artistic endeavors. Painting since childhood, his work is focused on capturing the emotion, light, and feeling of a particular moment in time, a special place, or special experience. Much of his work reflects his experiences traveling, which is the source of much pleasure and inspiration. His lifelong interest in sailing and the coastal environment provides material for many of his paintings, as does his career studying and designing buildings to meet the needs of human society. The diversity of his subject matter reflects his interest in all aspects of human endeavor; the world we have built, and what we do in that world.
Since studying architecture at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon), and the University of Arkansas, Marvin has worked in New York City, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Marvin now maintains a studio in New Bern North Carolina, where he has lived and worked for the past 30 years. His paintings have been exhibited in numerous juried shows, and are also represented in many private collections.
